Bob, I bought a used Field about 3 months ago and it arrived in the factory
packaging fine except that the metal cover on the top of the unit that
shields the anti-vox, vox delay, and other infrequently adjusted parameters
had come dislodged. Fortunately, it only scratched up a corner of the top,
and the seller replaced the top for me. If it still fits snugly, I think
you will be okay with the factory packaging, but make sure and remove the
metal cover on the top of the chassis and pack it separately. I don't think
you'll have any problems aside from that.

I will be shipping my FT-1000 to either California or South Dakota for

repair. The relay thing (no receive, hit PTT, have receive) is getting

worse. My question is this; will the original shipping cartons be

sufficient to protect the rig? Any guidance from those who have done

this before would be welcomed.

Thanks and 73,

Bob
