Thanks everyone...that really nailed it down. I did actually mean RL6451 
rather than 6457. I'll see about getting a replacement. Thanks for the input 
on "shop manuals". I missed out on the hard copy...I know that Yeasu used to 
have paper copies. I appreciate all the help...sorry for starting a flame 
war, I just bring out the best in people. Has anyone tried siphoning off a 
couple of ma of dc off the boards and feeding it through the relays to 
prevent the issue? I recall that some military radios did just that to keep
