Hi a while back I wrote to you about my my receive problem on some frequencies. I read all about the common VCO2 problem and the re-soldering of the board. I just took mine all apart and looked at the board with a magnifying glass and all looks good looks. It looks like my coils are made from plated wire. However one little chip looks like it may have gotten very hot, even to the point that it may have melted the solder?/ is that possible? Its a little hard to determine which chip it is, but it looks to me like it is D4005 which is going to ground. Has anyone experienced this problem?? and is there a substitute diode available? I just like to get VCO2 functioning again without sending the rig to Yaesu.. I am a little worried to put an ohm meter on it while it's on the board. I sure don't want to make it worse. Any suggestions? would a regular switching diode work in it's place? I am on vacation in Florida and don't have too many radio stores around other than Radio Shack. Any he
lp will be much appreciated
