*** This may be the LAST update. There are many reasons as ***
*** to why this may need to be the case - none of which are***
*** due to the prior cases of people not using this tool. ***
*** I will monitor things for the next few weeks an make a ***
*** final decision then ***
*** ***
*** 1. ACARS appears to be being replaced by SBS as the ***
*** main tool for providing tie-ups ***
*** ***
*** 2. As a result the numbers of ACARS contributers has ***
*** fallen off, especially in the more distant parts - ***
*** there used to be somewhat regular ACARS reports from ***
*** South America, South Africa, Japan and Bangkok - all ***
*** now gone removing the global part of the lists. ***
*** ***
*** 3. What reports are left are taking a lot more time to ***
*** process due to the fact that a lot of them are using ***
*** ACARSD as the logging software - it is a terrific piece***
*** of software, but the (ab)use of the correction tool is ***
*** creating the false notification of new ACARS ids for ***
*** things like Bizjets, the entire Air Canada Jazz fleet, ***
*** some Finnair a/c and others that have legitimate ACARS ***
*** ids with NO DASH. OHLBX is a valid ACARS id. OH-LBX is ***
*** not. Thus the tracking down of the less obvious ones ***
*** is a drain on resources and time. ***
