A lathe would really make fabrication of these pins easier.  If I had a 
dollar for every time I have noted I needed a lathe...I could buy a 
lathe.  Seriously...I've needed one for a long, long time.

Came real close to buying a used 9x20 Chinese-made lathe a couple of 
years ago and I regret not doing so.

What's worse...I spent almost four years working in a machine shop and 
know how to use one.  :(

This is exactly how I've been making the pins so far.  :)  Well, except 
I haven't been following up the making of the bevel using a file with 
fine emory paper.  :)
