  Dear all,
To the preceding we must add the idea that a loop (aerial) picks up
the magnetic component and/or the electrostatic component of the
  radiated field.
We all know that some loops are built inside copper pipe or wrapped in
foil to 'hear" only the magnetic component.
That's another point of interest in building a low noise aerial.

I'm going to adapt Lloyd Butler's 'rig' for 160 and see if it can be
made to work at a higher frequency (or even as high as 80m).
At a higher frequency layout and "strays" will make noise cancellation
more difficult - but what is "higher"? 80m? 40m? 6m?

Lloyd has an interesting understanding of theory, and matches that
with practical work (as good practice demands)
  For example:

Topic #2. Antenna Noise and Signal Cancelling at LF

  Topic #3: Noise blanking.

   Nice work by Lloyd, yes?
