[ARC5] Christmas Came Early!

I tried much the same thing when my employer got some surplus helos a number of years ago.  The military avionics would all have to be removed to render the aircraft usable for their mission. I inquired about the stuff, explained why I was interested, etc but all it did was make them very suspicious of me.
If you'd asked th' Shurf directly, the same thing would probably have happened in your case.  Sobering thought.

I went over at the airport this morning to work on a Kenwood TS-520 I have pulled apart over there.  I did not get to even touch the Kenwood, though...

The local Sheriff's Dept has acquired a number of OH-58 and UH-1H helicopters, both flying examples and others they acquired for spare parts, as well as some boxes of spare parts for the choppers  Friends of mine there suggested I check the dumpster; they were cleaning house of unneeded items.

I got:

Two (2) R-1496A/ARN-89 ADF receivers and one (1) ARN-89 control box

One (1) ARC-114 low band FM transceiver and two (2) low pass FM filters for the ARN-114

Two (2) R-1021/ARN-30D receivers with Dynaverters

One (1) CV-256A/ARN-30A Converter.  It's not very useful in itself but should be a possible source of covers for 274-N, ARC-5 and Type 12 equipment.

I found some other stuff in the dumpster as well.  Anyone need a Size 38R military Nomex flight suit?
