Ihad the same problem when I bought a second hand model 59!
I made mine with two banana plugs (standard ones with the screw on sleeves.
Didn't use the sleeves though!) The hirpin is a length of #10 enamelled
wire 20 mm. across the outside of the hirpin. The length of the whole
assembly from the top of the heirpin to the ottom ends of the banana plugs
is 56 mm. The banana plugs themselves before assembly were about 27.5 mm
long. The hairpin was soldered to the threaded bore of the banana plug.
I tinned mine well and tried it using another grid dipper to check a tuned
circuit in the 100-250 Mhz range to get the coil hairpin "calibrated" then
soldered it in place.
Works very well.
