[Boatanchors] [Johnson] POPULAR ELECTRONICS MAGAZINES

Just a note, don't tell the Post Office clerk that you are sending magazines by media mail. The Post Office no longer allows bulk shipping of magazines by media mail. There is a restriction in the postal code that prohibits sending anything that contains advertising by media mail and the magazines definitely contain advertising. Unfortunately, there is no time-limit on advertising and even though it may be decades old the Post Office still considers it to be advertising.

I ran into this problem about 2 weeks ago when I tried to send a number of, it just so happens, Popular Electronics from Texas to Indiana. The clerk asked me what was in the package and I told her just some decades old magazines. She then informed me of the regulations and I had to send them by parcel post which was considerably more expensive. When I got home I went to the USPS website and read the regulations. Unfortunately, the clerk was correct.

I would use something like FedEx ground to send a bunch of magazines because that is going to be much cheaper than paying even parcel post rates at the Post Office.
