I simply tell them or tell the seller to say that they are research 
books which is what I actually consider vintage magazines.

Just because the PO regs were written with current magazines as the 
reason for the ban doesnt mean us poor beleaguered taxpayers have to 
play their silly games.

I just had several decades of very old QST's arrive from CA via media 
mail in fine shape.
