You've obviously never been to Central California.  We get lots of them here
in the Valley.  In fact, last summer my wife and I were driving Hwy 99
to Modesto and ran into a huge herd of the critters on the freeway.  Cars
were weaving everywhere trying to dodge 'em, some were big enough to swallow
up a Prius and other "Lawnmowers with seats".  Driving a Ford Screw (Super
Crew-cab) I didn't worry about the tumbleweeds, just the idiots trying to
dodge them!
