Bald mountains Carl? The mountains in the west are covered with pine 
trees until you get above the timber line (10,000-11,000 feet) and they 
are green all year long.

I went skiing in upstate New York once and it looked like a forest fire 
had gone thorough the area until I was reminded the trees lose their 
foliage in the winter.

With the exception of Mount Washington, you have hills back there, not 
mountains.
