No bypass but a definite manual gain control.

1st IF around 9 MCs and 500 KCs wide.  Easy to design, build and sweep
to tune.  No extra stages that have to track the VFO.

Sounds good.

Yep.  (well, 455 or 500 KCs.)  This is where all the filtering takes
place which allows the 1st IF to be broad.

Sounds about right

And a peak filter.  Both independent.
