Fellows,

Think about a 4.5 mhz first IF where the filter is a ceramic chip from a TV 
set IF channel.  Second IF is a 455 KHz ceramic filter chip from a VCR .  
Then use a second oscillator at 4 Mhz or 5Mhz with some variability. You then 
use the variability of the oscillator to get a selectable band pass. You 
use one skirt of the 4.5 Mhz filter and the other skirt of the 455 KHz filter 
to form the band pass. The exact frequency of the second oscillator 
determines how far the two skirts are apart.
