I have a B&W 374 which, I believe, is the same as your 334A.  It has 
scales for 1500, 300, 150, 30 & 15 and the temp sensor to turn on the 
light.  It is not terribly accurate but then neither is the Bird.  The 
thing about all the analog meters mentioned is the linearity of the 
diode.  None are much better than 5% and the Bird is based on full scale 
readings.
