The 2b is a fine radio, but is poor for general coverage SWBC or BCB listening tasks because of the restricted AM bandwidth too.  There are many better economical (or not) options including the 390, SP-600 (my all time favorite radio) and a host of others. The HQ-180 (for reasons I've never fully understood) seems to be a favorite among BCB DXers, although prices on good examples tend to the ridiculous these days ...
