I disagree!  I have one client who sometimes purchases as many as 150 of the interconnect cables that I make for "boat anchor" equipment.  By careful coiling I can get all of them in a large flat rate box and the weight is well over 30 pounds, approaching 40 pounds.

There is little, or no, bulging of the sides although I do have to put some pressure on the top to get it taped.  I do use good shipping tape and tape any openings in the box.

Sure you can ship seventy pounds for a low rate. But did you ever try to cram seventy pounds of anything into one of those boxes that can niether hold such a large object, let alone keep from splitting its sides out in the process!
