Because the ITU/IARU encouraged such an action when they assigned us the
band. nd, most countries went along with it. Thats where the major action
needs to be taken: when they assign us the new band they should also states
that part of it should be limited to narrow mode use ONLY. Throwing a bone
out to a pack of dogs, and expecting them to act properly and share it is
idiotic.
My license , for example, in Venezuela simply stated I was able to work
specific frequency bands, with cw/ssb/rtty etc. Nowhere did it say that
certain modes were not to be worked within portions of those bands. Thus,
thats exactly what I saw there. Some YL in town consistently working SSB
right on top of DX at 14,025, while I was already there, attempting to QSO in
cw. It makes no sense to allow both wide-band and narrow-band signals on the
same freqs, and if the FCC thinks thise will all work itself out easily, they
havent been listening to the problems we already have on the bands, but of
course THEY are not responsible for DX operators, and can easily ignore them.
