As an outsider (Canada) I cant contribute much to this discussion, but I 
would like to send along my appreciation of your thoughtful and articulate 
analysis of the 5mhz subband issue.  I think you are on the money when you 
point out the self serving view of those who spend 100% of their ham 
operation on phone.  I have also witnessed the "bullying" tactics of those 
who choose to operate wide band modes on top of ongoing QSO's and believe 
this could be an indication of what might occur on 5mhz with a "go where you 
please" approach. Again, thank you for your efforts.
