Why not just donate $1 or two for every list you subscribe to ?
That's still less than what most folks spend on a magazine subscription or
on gas just to go to a swap meets.
It's probably not all that's needed to fully fund qsl/qth, but it'll help
keep this venue alive. While computers have gotten cheaper, and disk drives
are low priced, the high speed lines (like 2 x T1) to provide adequate
bandwidth ARE very expensive, Something on the order of $1,000 per month
each.
I've donated to QSL/QTH each year... it's well worth it.
I've, looked at some of the lists on Yahoo.... I don't mind some advertising
(it is what keep Yahoo on Business), but much of it is obnoxious... pop-ups,
pop-unders, pop-overs, and pop-tarts.... On some lists, you have to page
through an intermediate ad page between the list and the message and then
back thought it when going back.
If I see one more X-10 camera ad, I think I'll puke.
Brilliant flashing 'you have won..' or 'your data is in danger click
here...' dialog boxes and the like.
Yahoo allows attachments (read:viruses).
Personally, I'd rather pay for a service that's ad free.
