Various Mexican stations on numerous fed & forestry freqs making use near
impossible. When we were out of fire season, the USFS radio techs set up
"frequency interrupters" on all NIFC inputs, outputs, 170.0, and 167.95,
basically rebroadcasting all of the Los Padres Forest Net traffic on these
freqs. At the end of each TX, it would jump to the next freq, HOPEFULLY
discouraging Mexico from using these channels, which go unused most of the
time. The problem is so bad, only 2 out of 7 air tactics channels are
usable, and 2 out of 6 Commands, and the 173.9125, .9625, and .9875 were
added to the tacs because 168.050 is "jammed", and I believe 168.6 is
farther down the border from me.
I believe .9375 is noticably absent is because of the mex repeater on it
near here. So it's a real problem. BP had the same problem until they went
digital. The 164.225 tac is jammed, as is the 166.875 (with the same 100.0
PL- making it worse!). On the bright side, all the LAX Customs traffic on
169.550 jams the main Tijuana PD channel (166.500), also making it hearable
here in San Diego. So it's a big problem with both the feds and CDF. They
also jam the new digital repeater (FBI?) on 171.175, NEST on 173.000 and
167.850 (which is the air freq so it's worse), the FBI primary A1 input on
164.350, and the list goes on and on...Ruff
