I can confirm that 173.050 is an active Chicago-area channel, but am unable 
to tell you if it's been in use in the past several days. Much of the traffic 
there is encrypted, so if you were hearing transmissions in the clear, I 
doubt it was from Chicago.


Also, I lived in Indianapolis several years ago & visit there fairly 
frequently. I've never heard that frequency active there.
