Anyone see the news segments on NBC as well as PBS networks about the
shadow government that the president has put in place just in case of a
"successful" attack on Washington DC? (Would successful attack in this
context mean a nuclear type detonation???)

According to the new segment, there's five secret sites (reinforced
underground bunkers???) on the East Coast that approximately 150 people
have been reporting to from all major federal government departments in
support of a Continuity of Government Operations Plan.... There was also
mention that senior officials (I think they mean congress) also have
specific instructions, passwords, etc..... for getting into these sites.....

The segment also mentioned that members of this shadow government had
special cellphones that allowed access even if the cell phone network was
saturated with calls (which at least infers that all sites are next to
cellphone access areas??)..... Now I remember reading about a proposal
awhile back BUT can't remember the specifics on pre exemption/priority
calling scheme......

I would imagine that the various sites must have various communications
equipment (land line telephone, HF radio, VHF/UHF radio, satellite radio,
various computers etc......) BUT might also have concealed antennas so as
to not give away the location/maintain a very low profile????

At one time there was some historical theories/informaton that all of these
sites were not necessary on land.. apparently one was on a ship and another
was on the famous military alert Boeing 747's "Nightwatch".. BTW whatever
happen to "Nightwatch"???

Also I remember reading somewhere that "cold war" relocation sites were
within 150 miles of Washington DC... Perhaps Tim T. could provide some
insight into this.

Anyways, this would appear to be a good discussion thread to start......
