[FedCom] Scanner software

In reference to software, I have had a BC895XLT for a couple of years now, but I have never hook it up to my computer. I actually bought the scanner refurbished from Uniden's site. I did not know right away that it had computer control capabilities. Anyway, I made a cable a few months ago and tried to download and use a couple different free ware scanner programs. I could not get my scanner to respond. So, I tested the cable with an ohm meter....that works. I am not sure what software would work well with the BC895, as no one ever mentions that radio in reference to computer controlled scanning. Any suggestions?
