Here in Anchorage, the FPS uses a contract, private security guard
service, but they use FPS frequencies (which are now digital here). I have,
on occasion, seen genuine FPS vehicles here but not often. And I have not
seen genuine FPS officers here (FPS uniform). The regular FPS officers,
which I used to see ALOT in San Francisco, are a regular, federal law
enforcement officers who protect buildings and personnel at federal
buildings (I finally found their web site a while back, I've since lost the
web address; they are part of the General Services Administration (GSA) if
you want to look for them). Their vehicles and uniforms are quite
distinctive. When I've lived in larger cities, I have not seen them at
postal service facilities, but I have not seen the postal inspectors
'patrolling' either. So, not sure who handles physical plant security at
postal facilities. I have the impression that the Postal Inspection Service
sticks to mail fraud, contraband, and things like that. My listings do not
show 418.300 as a FPS frequency, but it still could be, of course.
I have not tried to monitor postal inspectors here, only FPS. This
reminds me that I've got to find that FPS web site again.
Just some observations, I hope they are of interest.

MHz. I was wondering if these guys you call the Post Office Police are
actually FPS. Cause they are, in Portland anyway, guys why check all the
Federal Buildings and answer alarms in all the Federal Buildings. I am not
sure what else they do, but they are (I think) like FED security Guards.
