Subject: [FedCom] Packet on NWS freqs
A couple of years ago, I came across a packet signal on 409.675; a freq
licensed to
the National WX Service. I ran the scanner audio through my TNC and decoded
the packets.
The signal was coming from a Cincinnati TV station, WCPO channel 9.
It just kept sending the same packet every 10 to 20 seconds.
WCPO-1>CQ/1: <UI>:N7
A call to the Station Engineer confirmed that it was "part of our weather
system which is licensed through the NWS and operates on their frequencies."
Subsequent emails went un-answered.
Has anyone else come across this?
