I have the approach/departure frequency, but not the tower. You can listen
to the Janet planes on my website:
http://www.lazygranch.com/janair.htm with the audio here
http://www.lazygranch.com/sound/janet/groomad.mp3
When you hear the mysterious "frequency change approved", you know you have
the approach freq.
www.dreamlandresort.com does a bit better job of tracking the Janets since
Joerg has both the tower and approach frequency.
Now I can't give it to you, but I can tell you how I got the frequency. I
parked at the Power Line Overlook [ N37.45922 W115.42401 ], car camping so
that I could be there at the really busy early morning hours when most ATC
is not active. Every time I got a hit on the scanner, I checked it against
known frequencies, and if it was documented, I locked out the freq.
Eventually I got a hit on the Groom Lake approach/departure. It took two
sessions to get the approach freq. In hindsight, I should have locked out
more known frequencies, and could have probably found it in one session.
You may be able to hear the Janets talking to Groom if you park your car at
the town Cold Creek, just up route 95 a bit from Vegas if you don't want to
hang out at the power lines. You probably won't hear the base, but if you
hear the callsigns Queen or Razor, those would be the Janet planes.
