Awhile back, on a day when propagation was incredibly good, I picked up
the Customs primary NW input (166.4375), repeating on 165.4875, instead of
the usual 165.2375. Due to Mexican interference on the input, only 165.2375
direct is used in San Diego. The A2 repeater is in L.A.
Does anyone have any idea where this 166.4375/165.4875 R repeater is
located in California? The farthest repeater I've ever heard is a remote
field office FBI repeater for Sacramento on Frazier Peak on 167.7625. I also
hear Forest Service South Zone on 166.5625 and 164.9125. I know one is on
Frazier, not sure about the other, but the point is the 165.4875 repeater
would probably be along the central California coast, since at the time I
had a straight shot to the coast from a mountain in Jamul. I also found a
Channel Islands repeater I'd never seen reported on 166.7875 (input 172.400,
same as the repeater on 171.700) with no PL, known as CH.15. Additionally
found a DEA repeater repeating the CH.6 input (416.2) on Red Mountain in
Ventura County on 417.650, with weird little tone bursts, like maybe it was
some kind of link. But I digress greatly (sorry!). 165.4875 R. Where? Ruff
