I have been curious as to what I have been hearing on that freq. I am in southern MD and pick some traffic on it perodically. The probem has been that I have tried in in NFM, FM, AM & WBFM modes and in all modes it sounds horrible. The sound reminds me of the freqs the Marine Operators use when placing phone patches. I can't explain the way the comms sound very well but they remind me of some sort of digital transmission, but you can still tell it is verbal comms. The comms are so distorted I have teh freq attenuated and will be locking it out soon unless I can get it clearer somehow.

Yes, 143.700 is a MARS Frequency however this is a Link Channel, used to link the Various Repeaters in the 148-150 Mhz Range throught New England. Anyone with Sites and FREQ/PL's, Please post.
