My own theory is that, since there are many tactical channels in this
range, and a LOT of the NORAD activity is now regularly using HAVE QUICK
radios, this is where the guys go to CHAT.  Immediately after 9/11,
there was a decent amount of chat between the pilots flying CAP and
whatnot, though it has nearly dropped off to nothing now that HAVE QUICK
is the norm.

You can learn a lot about the flight schedules of United and Delta
pilots who happen to also be fighter jocks for ANG units by listening to
the A/A chatter ...
