Well, I'm, sorry to say that I think the "spooks" in my neighborhood are part
of a legit business (rats, I was looking for the black helicopters).
I think they are part of a seismic survey crew. This is the temporary home
base, and there are other crews out in the field maintaining their "boxes."
I have strong sigs 153.260 Mhz with a DPL of 114. The signal is S9+20 db (IC
R-7000), and for comparison, our local NOAA station is S6 and the airport ATIS
(2 miles away) is S7.
I think their data links are on 160.065 Mhz with S9+10 db.
The crew is mixed, Spanish speakers (odd around here, French, yes, Spanish, no)
and English speakers. The Spanish guys are in the field, and are using english
words like "hydrophone" mixed in.
I'll keep an eye on them and let you know when the black choppers show up.
I took some photos yesterday with an old fashioned film camera and long lense.
If anyone is interested, I can scan the pics with emphasis on the rather
elaborate ants these guys are using. Hey, maybe I'm wrong about the seismic
crew.
A local chap thought this operation is part of homeland security.
Cheers
Tom
