On the new digital Uniden scanners, besides CTCSS, there's a DCS you ca=
n =
set. I assume this is for digital. =
<<<
DCS stands for Digital Coded Squelch, it's an alternate version of CTCSS
tone squelch that uses a digital value to open a radio squelch as opposed=
to a sub-audible tone. It is used with analog radios, not digital. Digita=
l
radios use what's called a NAC or Network Access Code. The NAC function i=
s
not available on scanners...
>>>
Since all my Justice/Treasury is now P-25 =
digital, and alot of these freqs have a tone or carrier on them, does
anyone =
know which (if any) DCS can be set to block out carriers, Mexicans, etc.? =
<<<
I guess you can pick whatever you want to block out unwanted traffic.
However, beware that the Radio Shack PRO-96 radio clearly states that if
you assign CTCSS or DCS tone squelch to a channel, it will NOT receive a
digital transmission. I have not seen the Uniden manual if the tone squel=
ch
overrides the digital mode...
