Well thanks for the information to clear up much of the mystery, BUT part of
it doesn't make sense.  Depending upon terrain, how could a mobile repeater
in the same motorcade ensure a signal gets back to AF 1??...  My guess is
that there's other temporary repeaters set up at the local fed and/or state
mountain radio sites in the area & also the same would be in foreign
countries.
