This might be a clue as to where the IRS went, I work at the Phila IRS
service center, it is my understanding is that the IRS in an effort to sa=
ve
money has done away with the rent a cops at most of the service centers..=

I think the original question was concerning the IRS Criminal Enforcement=

Division, not the security guards...

My guess is that the Treasury Department, as well as the Justice
Department, are in the midst of re-organizing a lot of their communicatio=
ns
into consolidated radio systems to be shared by various agencies within t=
he
Treasury Department. Some new frequencies may come in to the picture, as=

well as old standards, like 165.950, which seems to be busy in quite a fe=
w
cities these days, but always seems to be encrypted. Lots of stuff
changing in the federal bands these days, for sure...

I never have quite understood why the IRS CID went to UHF repeaters when
most of the other IRS divisions were using VHF, although years ago we oft=
en
heard IRS units sometimes pop up on the DEA frequencies.
