Aw, heck, 1000 feet? Come up with me in the plane one day and we'll go
up a mile or 2 and see what you pick up.

Well got to spend about 1 1/2 hrs today at
Quabbin Reservation Hill Tower Parking Area
Quabbin Reservoir
Ware/Belchertown, MA..

The parking area is at approx 1000 feet MSL.

As a side not this Reservoir is the major water supply for the
Boston/Boston
Metro and some other areas in the Central/WMass, providing drinking
water to
over 2.2 million people . It has a holding capacity of 412 billion gallons
of water. It is 39.4 square mileage of area surface. 118 miles of
shoreline.Every inch of rain adds 750 million gallons. (see
http://www.mwra.com for additional information) Of course strong Homeland
Security procedures have been implemented but this doesn't impeded radio
monitoring in any way.

Concentrated on Federal Government potential P25 Digital signals.

Here's what was active:
National Wx Service, all frequencies: 162.40, 162.425, 162.45, 162.475,
162.50, 162.525, 162.55 -- I think that there was some skip coming in.

Other Fed/Military freqs:
163.625 Encrypted possibly FBI, or INS
164.3875 Repeater (CTCSS 110.9), USPS Springfield
165.05 Repeater (no CTCSS), USPS Springfield
163.675 (DCS 043) INS nationwide
167.5125 Repeater, encrypted probably FBI
168.525 Transmitter ID , unk federal agency?
168.875 INS (nationwide)
169.1125 Repeater (CTCSS 110.9), appeared to be some sort of federal pax
transportation dept, with mention of Expressway & dispatch to (buses?).
170.625 Encrypted INS (nationwide)
171.1 Transmitter link (hydrologic channel, data)
172.3 (CTCSS 94.8), USPS Springfield
172.9 (P25 Digital) TSA, Bradley International Airport.

Also scanned 406-420 mhz and didn't get any voice radio transmissions.

Furthermore, scanned 138-144, 148-150.8, and except for Westover's new
digital systems, didn't pickup any additional frequencies.
