Up in my neck of the woods (Portland, OR), the USPS Inspectors have been
P-25 digital for over a year and they do keep it encrypted almost 100% of
the time. They have been using 414.725 MHz and 415.050 MHz, but recently a
couple of "new" frequencies may have become active...
407.1375 MHz, also P-25 digital has started to become active with both some
simplex surveillance as well as radio techs working on a repeater system.
Some of the traffic that has been in the clear seems to indicate that this
may have some connection to the Postal Inspectors, but the jury is still
out on this one.
414.625 MHz, 82.5pl was recently heard being used for simplex comms. Since
the two units were still using analog, I suspected that if they were Postal
Inspectors, they may have been from out of town. Or perhaps there are still
a few channels still programmed in the analog mode for interoperability?
Since most of the USPS Inspectors locally use encryption, I haven't caught
any details of dispatch centers or locations. :-(
