[FedCom] AOR P25 decoder

Hank,

Sorry, your right about the details. My intent is to utilize my Icom R8500. After disabling the 12 VDC bias voltage on the 10.7 MHz IF output, I chose to use the Atlantic Electronics SM7071 spectrum monitor (nice, VERY sensitive 2.5 in x 2.0 inch pan display CRT) which has an additional 10.7 MHz output (very convenient) which will feed the AOR decoder. I am extremely pleased with the performance of the R8500 with regards to resolution of bandwidth, e.g. the 15 kHz BW you mention, and freq step size for tuning.

I do understand it takes some practice (anyone with Hoka, SkySweeper patience and experience knows) and I'm looking forward to the added functionality / tuning challenges.

Thanks very much for your reply !

-Scott

What information are you looking for ? The ARD25 works fine with an AR5000+3
on P25 conventional digital channels. I find the 15K FM bandwidth setting
produces a little better sound quality. I also find the volume setting on
the ARD25 and the squelch setting on the AR500 are critical adjustments that
take practice to get good P25 decoding. Since you don't say what receiver
you are using, I can't really give you much more info than that.
Good Luck.

Good evening to the list !

I have purchased the AOR P25D P25 digital (non-encrypted, non-trunking)
decoder, and was curious if any list members have any feedback on the
decoder.

Thanks in advance, and best regards !
