155.475, referred to up here as NationWide Car to Car (NWCC) is used as
a simplex back-up "B.S." channel to the Maine law enforcement common
simplex freq of StateWide Car to Car (SWCC).

Regarding the Federal Protective Service, the 417.200 link system is
quite extensive, down into the lower reaches of New England. The
"Control" transmissions are invariably P25 "in the clear", but the
individual "unit" responses and check-ins are encrypted P25. A strapping
signal can be heard along the I-95 corridor, with references to southern
New England areas.

Does anyone on the List have any idea where the actual "Control" station
is in the New England area? I have yet to hear NWCC utilized by the feds
up here; it is one the freqs I scan 24-7 (and record) with a Maxon
commercial grade radio and a StationMaster antenna up on a hill here in
central Maine. Still, one never knows what one will hear as officers
loosen their radio discipline.

Info on the FPS is always welcomed. Is anyone able (and willing?) to
illuminate us on the FPS link system?

Best to the Group,

Loren in wintery Maine
