Once a Lo-Jack-equipped vehicle is reported stolen, I believe the signal to
activate the unit is sent out over 173.0750.
I have heard one of the activated transmitters driving in the area of my
home. I watched & heard the signal strength rise and fall. I called the local PD,
hoping to get a Lo-Jack-equipped car to hunt this thing down, but by the time
the dispatcher could figure out what-in-the-hell-I-was-talking-about, the
signal was gone.
There are also training units fielded so police officers can learn to use the
receivers.
