This morning (1/28), I turned my scanner on at 6 AM and began hearing activity
on 168.425 which I have listed as the repeater for the FBI Lansdale, PA Field
Office. It sounded like the operation began prior to 6 AM. I have the 167.9 PL
programmed in and was lucky enough to hear a clear comm that clued me to park
on the freq for a bit.
The vast majority of the traffic was encrypted, but there were occassional
clear comms. Radio traffic was very busy between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM (when I
stopped listening). Some of the clear comms included:
(Field unit comms are not necessarily from the same person. I monitored at
least four field units in the clear and at least one operator in the CP that
was clear.)
Field Unit: "Team 5, one in custody"
Field Unit: "The girlfriend says the broke up and she hasn't seen him in at
least a year."
Field Unit: "Command Post, any other locations?"
Field Unit: "...scene is secure, scene is secure..."
Field Unit: "...no further information, no further information..."
Command Post: "...it creates a lot of possibilities, but none that can allow us
to say he is definitely wanted."
Command Post: "It is such a common name. It causes a lot of possibilities to
come up."
Command Post: "Team 10, CP received that soc#."
Field Unit: "Team 6 to Command Post [then garbled comm]"
Command Post: "Team 6 from CP."
Command Post: "Command Post to Team 9."
Field Unit: "Command Post, we're at team 9 location. Subject has local
warrants. Do we process him locally or should we go back to the Federal
Building?"
Command Post: "Just process him locally and record all his identifiers."
Field Unit: "[garbled] 6 to the 8/H [unsure] team, respond back to the Burger
King, if you could. We've got a [garbled].
It sounds like something major went down this morning with at least 10 field
teams. Yesterday, there was a major child pornography bust all across New
Jersey. I wonder if this is related. News of the Jersey bust kept quoting
NJSP, though. So, I don't know who ran that effort. I guess I'll have to keep
an eye on the papers for a few days to see if anything is reported publicly.
