Well here's an interesting site that gives you an idea about the civilian
federal government agencies that are flying aircraft includes registration
#, type aircraft/helo, etc.. So if you are monitoring the radio (e.g. aero
air traffic control) perhaps you might hear some of these aircraft/helos.
check out http://162.58.35.241/dev/acdatabase/acmain.htm
Do a search by name of agency:
Some examples:
Agency: #of entries
Department of Agriculture: 13
Department of Commerce: 3
Department of Defense: 4
Department of Homeland Security: 1
Department of Interior: 1
Department of Justice: 10
Department of State: 29
Department of Veterans Affairs: 1 (ballon)
Federal Aviation Administration: 102 (not sure if all of these are really
FAA aircraft or not)
Federal Bureau of Investigation: 17
Tennessee Valley Authority: 12
FCC: 6 (related)
US Border Patrol: 19
US Marshals Service: 2
I sure this list isn't all inclusive, especially if any aircraft/helo was
being leased, than the lessor my actually retain the N registration number
(and corporate name) rather than the government lessee...
