I've heard them in the Boston area on 165.9500 P-25, very little
traffic though, last time was maybe last fall, 3 or 4 units doing radio
checks seeing how their "new" radio were working.
I remember back in Miami years ago they were on 418.2250, alot, alot of
surveilance work.

Subject: [FedCom] "Tax Police" Newspaper Interview

The "Springfield (MA) Sunday Republican", 4/9/06 edition, Business
Section (D)
has an interview with Special Agent in Charge Internal Revenue Service
Criminal Investgation Field Office in Boston.. He was interviewed
recently
when he made a visit to the Springfield Office.

Basically there's 10 agents in the Springfield Office. 120 New England
wide.

The agents focus on tax fraud/evasion, but also get involved in money
laundering & political corruption cases. Most have backgrounds in
accounting and/or bank finance versus law enforcement.

Radio Communications wise, nothing was mentioned. I think that the
nature
of the the investigations would probably result in use of cellphones
rather
than radio equipment. I think it's been over 3 years since I've
monitored
any IRS CID activity, which at that time as in the VHF highband area.

Further information on IRS CID can be found at:
http://www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement/article/0,,id=98205,00.html

Historically the Webster report (1999) emphasized the CID getting back
to its' basics.
