I'm sure Gil wouldn't ever think of doing an "on scene" where the
surveillance activity is taking place.
For the rest of the group, any responses to those areas of surveillance
could put you in some extreme
danger.. There's also the legal aspect if you cause a problem (e.g. the
suspect gets away/ tipped off)
and you probably would be arrested.
Many years ago there was a case in the Baltimore area involving a hobbyists
who apparently heard
a surveillance operation in progress & either told someone who informed the
subject individual or
told the person himself..
Bottom line is the guy got hauled into federal court, and in a plea bargain
avoided jail time BUT
one of the conditions of probation was that he couldn't have a scanner
during the probation time.
Hmm, so lets see 1 year in jail without scanner or 3 years probabtion
without scanner? tough decision!!! ;)
