During a recent trip to the Seattle area, I monitored the following on VHF:
All of these were P25 encrypted:
167.000
167.3375
167.3875
167.4125
167.6125
167.7625
168.850
169.4125
170.9125
172.2125
All of these were control channels:
167.2875
167.6875
167.7125
170.6625
172.2875
172.6375
172.6875
I believe that they are all part of the Justice Integrated Wireless Network
(JIWN) that Chris Parris wrote about in the July 2006 issue of MT. I didn’t
hear anything else on VHF the entire time I was there.
Can anyone tell me, are all the DOJ and DHS agencies using the system. The
fact that everything was encrypted seems to me this is being used for law
enforcement or discreet ops and not for Postal or Parks.
