[FedCom] Interop Freqs Usage?

There are several communities in this area that do cross-banding for mutual
aid purposes. They usually test the system at noon on every Saturday.
However, I have never heard any transmissions (other than the "test") on the
designated frequency. One system includes the FBI, the other does not.

Ben, I believe that you are "spot-on" with the cross-banding concept! It
is so totally simple, which is probably why it has been under utilized
for so long! There are some obvious draw backs, it is typically only 1
frequency (situations requiring the need for this usually will need
several freq's), should the link be "full time" or "as needed", who/what
agency is "the gate keeper", are the assets even in place? ect ect. But
when "cooler minds" prevail, these difficulties can be easily over come.
One of the most simplest ways to accomplish this is through a simple
patch(s) set up on a dispatch console! This will require dispatching
agencies to have assets available to the consoles, which in-turn requires
agencies to cooperate, i.e. give up their "kingdom" mentality! Not an
easy task, but it can be done!
Just my $0.02 worth!
