[FedCom] Scanner laws in Ireland?

When I last heard from friends the Irish were pretty laid back about scanning and were still using primarily amplitude modulation (!). But I'm guessing they're moving to 380-400 MHz. encrypted Tetra like the rest of the EU (and much of the world). I'd say that, if you have a ham license, keep it alongside your scanner and, if asked by Customs, tell them you listen to hams on 2 meters and 430 MHz.

Staying out of trouble is more than just not getting caught.
Most countries have rather stern regs and laws about radios capable of
receiving 'government' communications. Some of these countries enforce
them vigorously.
I traveled extensively for a few years with my PCR1K throughout Asia,
Europe, and the Middle East without any problems. The secret seemed to
be to keep the radio with the laptop (in the laptop bag) with a short
serial cable connecting it to the laptop. My antenna system was a few
differing lengths of plain wire -- but stored separately in my suitcase.
The radio was 'examined' closely in a few countries. If asked, I would
say it was an attachment for the computer - which was true.
