[FedCom] Effective Monitoring & The Monitoring Time Challenge!!!!

Hmm, doesn't seem that difficult to remove a radio from a vehicle & even 
with a portable antenna/dc power supply be able to monitor the federal 
bands.  Many of the frequencies are repeaterized & others are high powered 
remotes bases so there's a good chance that you may monitor some activity. 
Also many FBI offices (area dispatcher) have radio roll calls daily, around 
0900 hrs, so that would be a good time to be in the "search mode".   Even 15 
minutes of search can be very successful in finding federal frequencies in 
use in your area!!!  If you have a portable scanner you can even take with 
you to the bathroom -- that's how I snagged the new local P25 VA hospital 
frequency.. Yep sitting while doing my daily Metamucill routine, and 
listening/monitoring in the "search mode" with the portable scanner;  what a 
terrific combination!!!! ;)  :)

Also consider getting a subscription to "Monitoring Times" magazine, there's 
the "Fed Files" column which appears ever other month & is packed with 
information which would probably be worth your valuable/limited time 
reading.

I guess this list is only as good as the "colleagues" on this list who are 
willing to take the time out of their busy schedules & make an effort to 
contribute to this list!!!

So here's the challenge to everyone on this list.  Starting this evening how 
about spending 15 minutes each day just searching the federal bands & report 
back here next Saturday around 8:00 p.m. local time what you've heard???!!!!
