Hi Ken,
I work at an FBO and see these planes a couple of times a week. As far
as I know and can observe, it's just a plain ol' MD-80 with no special
radio equipment on board. Most of the crew appear to use cellphones and
a fax machine occasionally (ours) to communicate with their HQ. I'd
think their use of ARINC to talk to their HQ would be limited, since it
would be "in the clear". They do use our ARINC frequency to check in
when they're 10-20 minutes out (to order fuel, etc).
