The Navy is in the process of MOVING the shipboard trunked systems from the
406 MHz to the 380 MHz bands, but they are still trunked. The DoD in
general is going to be moving avay from the 406 MHz trunked systems in
favor of trunked systems in  the 380 MHz band. Also keep an ear on the 138
to 144 Mhz band for trunking, too.

There is confirmed usage of the 380 - 400 MHz band in conventional and
simplex modes by the DoD.

Larry may have more on the reasons for the move, but I suspect that the 406
Mhz band is going to be crowded with federal trunking and land mobile
systems, but the 380 MHz band is all DoD's...

walking away from this
