[FedCom] 172.775 - Boston MA area - bursts of P25

Chris,
   That was grabbed in "signal stalking" mode while on business at the 
airport. Saw a TSA  employee talk in the radio and got a hit on 171.925. 
Confirmed encrypted by another source from the airport.

I was just in Boston and heard the same thing on 163.750 MHz. I have also
heard the same thing on some of the VHF frequencies used by the Justice
trunked system up in Washington state. I know that the P-25 radios support
data transmission modes of some sort. Since I heard these "bursts" of P-25
signal almost 24 hours a day, I suspect that it might be some sort of alarm
or status reporting system. possibly for a secured area in some federal
agency's office. They often have the offices or evidence storage areas
alarmed.

   Are you near Logan Airport? Sounds like it could be TSA at the airport.
Here in Rhode Island at Green Airport TSA is on 171.925 Digital with
encryption. I have 172.775 on a list from the web as "airport security".
Doesn't say what airport or agency. Please let us know if you positively
identify it.

Gil, I was also just in Providence and heard the TSA quite well on 172.9
MHz, P-25 in the clear - same with Boston Logan. Are you sure that the
171.925 is supposed to be TSA? Just curious since it's encrypted how would
you? If it is the TSA, that's another set of "non-standard" frequence is
that seem to be popping up...
